The South Dakota Rodeo Association recently announced some of its year end awards for 2013. White River's annual Frontier Days Rodeo figured in those awards, as it saw several of the top rides of the year. SDRA recognizes high point rides and runs in each event through the entire season, and 2013 saw four of those rides, each on Hollenbeck Rodeo Company stock out of Winner, made in White River. The highest bull ride of the year was scored an 85. Rider Clint Connelly of Stapleton, Nebraska, rode Jeopardy to first place during the August Frontier Days. Bareback horse Bartender took home several awards for Hollenbeck Rodeo Co. He was named 2013 Bareback Horse of the Year in four associations the SDRA, MSRA, NRCA NSRA. He took Corey Evans, Valentine, Neb., to first at WR Frontier Days with a score of 84, SDRA's high point ride of the year. Two cowboys tied for the high point ride of the year in the saddle bronc riding, aboard Hannah Montana and Tequila. Ty Kennedy, Philip, and Cole Hindman, Belvidere, tied for first at WR Frontier Days with rides that scored 84 points each. Bronc Hannah Montana was named Bareback Horse of the Year in 2011 and 2012 and won high point bareback ride last year with an 87 before making the switch to the saddle bronc during the 2013 campaign. Hollenbeck Rodeo Company received one additional award. Their bull Buddy was named the Bull of the Year for the Mid-States Rodeo Association (MSRA). The 2014 SDRA season kicks off in mid-March with the SDRA Membership rodeo in Sioux Falls.
